WHY WORK WITH FREE RANGE MENTAL HEALTH

Turn your problems into strengths

You want to live with more peace, happiness, and freedom.

Somewhere in your life, you’ve experienced a situation, challenge or pain that has created a pattern of behavior that is keeping you stuck and preventing you from living the life you envision for yourself. You may be struggling with a relationship that isn’t working, a career that isn’t fulfilling, or a life that doesn’t feel like you’re truly living.

You’ve lost connection and trust with your most powerful internal guide – yourself.
The “Free Range” approach embraces flexibility, choice, and possibility—by helping you rediscover your own internal resources for healing and growth. We avoid rigid diagnoses and focus instead on the mind’s flexibility and power to break the unhelpful patterns that keep you from living life to its fullest potential.
Experience your world with a new perspective.

We do not contract with any insurance companies. If your plan covers out-of-network providers, you may be eligible for reimbursement from your insurance company by requesting a “superbill” from us.

You can also use Mentaya to submit out-of-network claims on your behalf. Mentaya can verify your out-of-network benefits and file the reimbursement paperwork for you. They charge a 5% fee per claim ($7 on $140 claim). Using Mentaya’s platform is completely optional. If you would prefer to submit superbills directly to your insurance company, just let us know!

Standard therapy sessions are 55-60 minutes.

Extended sessions (90 minutes) are available upon request and depending on therapist availability.

Longer sessions can be more effective for working with trauma, couples, and other situations with greater complexity, intensity, or conflict. If you would like to schedule an extended session, please let us know. Extended sessions will be prorated at the standard rate.

The full fee for a standard session depends on the experience level of the provider. When available, extended sessions are pro-rated at 1.5x the standard session fee. If paying this rate would cause undue hardship, you may choose a reduced rate based on the sliding scale.

Standard sessions with our Intern Therapists range from $30-50.

The sliding scale adjusts the session rate based on your income level using the chart below:

Sliding scale rates rely on the honor system; income verification is not required.

Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis, while some clients prefer not to have a mental health diagnosis on their medical record. Many individuals benefit from therapy even when they do not meet full criteria for a covered diagnosis. Insurance companies can limit the type of therapy that clients receive, limit the number of therapy sessions that clients are eligible for, and require cumbersome paperwork that interferes with client care. Private pay allows us to offer more flexibility, better protect client privacy, and spend more time face-to-face with clients.

Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours notice will be subject to the full session fee. There is no fee to cancel or reschedule an appointment with 24 hours notice. Please email, call, or text with as much advanced notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. In some cases, late cancellation fees can be waived due to extenuating circumstances.

Yes! Our office is close to the Lower Padden Creek and South Bay trails, and just a few minutes walk into the nearby woods or to Boulevard Park. Please note that outdoor or “walk and talk” format sessions may not be ideal for therapy that is intensive, trauma-focused, or any other situation where privacy is important. While spending time outside in nature has therapeutic benefits, most clients prefer the comfort and privacy of our indoor office for traditional talk therapy.
